PIN codes & locks
A PIN code is the only protection your base contents get besides walls.
What can be locked
- wooden doors and gates;
- concrete doors, gates, window frames and floor hatches;
- safes.
No lock item is required and it costs nothing. The 5,000 $ code lock at the trader is a different thing — it only goes on vehicles.
Setting one
The object offers "Set PIN", "Change PIN" and "Remove PIN" actions. The code is exactly four digits.
Changing or removing requires the current code. Any base member can set and change codes, not just the owner.
Who can open it
Only whoever knows the code. Base membership alone does not open doors: if you did not set the code, you still have to enter it.
After one correct entry the server remembers you, and the door opens directly from then on, without the menu.
Why brute force fails
The server enforces a 5 second pause between attempts on the same object. Trying ten thousand combinations would mean over 13 hours standing at the door.
When a code clears itself
- Upkeep expired — PIN codes are stripped from every structure at once.
- The safe was breached with a grinder — the code is deleted and the safe stays open.
Neither comes back automatically: after paying upkeep you have to set them all again.
Safes are special
A safe cannot be blown up with C4 — the charge will not attach. The only way in is a grinder: 60 seconds of uninterrupted channelling from two and a half metres, with a 100 % success chance.
Breaching does not destroy the safe — it simply opens, and everything inside, cash included, is free for the taking.
Locked structures cannot be dismantled
While a PIN is set, the dismantle action is unavailable. Remove the code first — otherwise you cannot even relocate your own door.
