Locks, repair & towing
Code lock#
A purchased vehicle is handed over already locked. On purchase — both from a trader and when collecting a market lot — the game asks you to pick a four-digit code and repeat it; the vehicle appears on the pad locked, and the buyer is authorised straight away without entering it again.
For a vehicle you found or stole, the lock is a separate item, 5,000 $ from the tools trader; it also drops as loot.
To fit it: hold the lock, walk up to the vehicle, use "Attach code lock". The code is four digits. The vehicle must be empty.
A locked vehicle gives nothing at all: no entry, no cargo, no engine, no repairs, no towing, no selling.
You lock and unlock your own vehicle with U — once you have entered the code at least once.
Mission vehicles and quad bikes cannot be locked.
Hacking someone else's vehicle#
With a crowbar. You must hold it for 2 minutes without moving, within 2.5 metres. Success chance is 100 %.
A repeat attempt on the same vehicle is possible after 20 seconds. The crowbar is not consumed.
Code entry has a 5 second pause between attempts, so guessing the code is not viable.
Repair and fuel#
- Repair wrench — 5,000 $ from the trader.
- Jerrycan — 1,200 $.
- Repair trucks (Ural or M923A1 Repair) repair to full with no supply cost.
- Tankers (Ural / M923A1 Tanker) carry fuel.
There are three ways to refuel: at fuel stations scattered around the map, from a jerrycan or from a tanker truck. Carrying a jerrycan is worth it — stations are not everywhere, and a tank runs dry faster than you expect.
Repair and refuelling do not work on a locked vehicle — remove the lock first.
Towing#
A broken or empty vehicle can be dragged with a rope.
- Walk to the front or rear bumper → "Take tow rope".
- Carry the rope to the second vehicle — 10 metres maximum. Go further and the rope snaps.
- At the second vehicle → "Attach tow rope".
The vehicle with a driver pulls. The one without a driver is towed. With drivers in both, the rope just hangs.
Either vehicle can release the rope.
You cannot tow:
- a vehicle with someone else's driver inside;
- a destroyed vehicle;
- mission vehicles and quad bikes;
- anything locked with a code lock.
The rope breaks by itself if stretched more than three times its length, if the vehicle is deleted or if the rope carrier dies.
Inside the trade zone you may only hitch and pull your own vehicle or a clan mate's. Outside it a vehicle belongs to nobody and anyone can tow it.
Helicopter sling load#
A helicopter lifts a vehicle into the air on four slings. The procedure is the same as on the ground: take the rope at the helicopter, carry it to the vehicle, hitch it. Once hitched, four legs run from the belly hook to the corners of the cargo and the vehicle hangs level.
There is no weight limit — any helicopter will lift any vehicle. The sling is released like a normal rope, from either end.
Quad bike#
A personal vehicle handed out for free from the F2 menu → "Server info".
- You may have only one — spawning a new one deletes the old.
- It appears next to you; it cannot be spawned inside someone else's territory.
- It is deleted when you log out and does not survive a restart.
- It cannot be stored in the garage, locked or towed.
- Top speed is around 72 km/h.
Rolling it throws you out of the saddle without damage. Impacts only turn lethal around 220 km/h — so normal riding will not kill you.
