World markers

Updated 28 August 20262 min read

A marker is how you show your clanmates a spot without describing it in words.

Placing one#

Look at whatever you want to mark and press J. The marker lands exactly where you are looking: a bush, a wall, a vehicle, a slope.

It is drawn in the world itself, not on the map, so it shows over the terrain. Below the icon you get the distance to it and the name of whoever placed it.

You can place them on foot and from inside a vehicle.

Who sees it#

The author and all of their clanmates. If you are not in a clan, only you see your marker.

Rules#

  • One marker per player. Pressing again moves your marker rather than adding a second one.
  • It lasts 5 minutes. Re-placing resets the timer.
  • Range is up to 2000 metres along your line of sight. Look at the sky or beyond the limit and nothing is placed — you get a "no target in sight" hint instead.
  • Dying does not remove it — it stays until the timer runs out. Logging out removes it immediately.
  • Markers are not restored after a server restart.

It fades when you look at it#

This is deliberate: put your crosshair straight on a marker and it goes almost transparent so it cannot block your aim. Look away and it is fully visible again.

So a marker on an enemy never hides the enemy from you.

How this differs from clanmate dots#

Clanmate dots on the map appear on their own and show where your people are. A marker is manual: you put it anywhere you like, and it lives for five minutes.
